Shoulder question

I can bench, or push-ups, pull ups, etc. but anything overhead hurts. If I throw a baseball it hurts. I’m hoping it might just be a little arthritis but am afraid might be rotator cuff. Any ideas or stretches to try?

This has personally helped me. Fake weight controversy aside, the stretches helped me with very similar pain. Spent over a grand on PT for short lived relief. Did the stretches in the video and felt a release feeling in my shoulder at the very end of the stretch lying down internally rotating your arm. Immediate relief after that. Have been fine ever since repeating the stretches a few times a week.
If the pain feels like it’s the back of your shoulder like an impingement, give this a try.

People helping people my man. Glad it’s helped some. I learned of it here as well.

I didn’t watch the video linked but try dead hanging for 30 seconds for a couple times as often as you can. Should help out your general shoulder health

A) do 2:1 horizontal pulls to vertical pulls
B) 2:1 pull to push ratio
C) do the following everyday, add reps weekly
10-15 - scapular shrugs
25 - Bar dislocates
25 - Band Pull Aparts
25 - Band Overhead straight arm pull downs (Y to T)
25- lying YWT with holds at every position
Or you could just buy crossover symmetry and do their program.
Plenty of other things like true rotator cuff work but this is a start.

Go see an Ortho. Get an actual diagnosis. Sounds like a text book rotator cuff tear. You can do exercises to help but when you have a structural integrity issue no amount of exercise will make the problem go away. You will most likely continue to experience pain and slowly lose range of motion.

quote:No it doesn’t. Symptoms with tears vary VASTLY

quote:Again, not true. There are such things as asymptomatic tears. People without pain are walking around with rotator cuff tears, meniscus tears, bulging or herniated discs and don’t have issues or even know these things are there. Quit fear mongering

Here’s some different stuff to try. Mostly Eric Cressey stuff cause he gives some good explanations of things
SMR posterior shoulder
SMR Pec
Prone HABD to upward rotation
Prone Y
Serratus wall slide

I had impingement issues couple years ago. Tried PT, dry needling, etc. Quit lifting for a few months (due to kids school schedules, etc) and that rest seemed to help a ton. After listening to the Joe Rogan podcast dallastiger55 posted on the board, looks like peptides could be something to maybe consider down the line. Give it a listen.
