Where do people run in Alexandria? Any suggestions for distances from 5 to 15 miles, preferably starting in the Garden District?

Also, can anyone recommend a decent gym?

Before she switched to CrossFit, my wife really liked La. Athletic Club. She went to the one across from Fads and Frame.

I would think that the Versailles/Lake Districts area has better sidewalks for running as opposed to the Garden Disrict.
Lake Districts also has about a 1 mile path that goes around their lakes. Garden district has that blacktop path, but that area is a little sketchy to me.

As far as gyms. I preferred the Louisiana Athletic Club because of the nice equipment in Alexandria and the indoor pool and basketball court in Pineville, but I just got a way better deal at the Courtyard.

Sweet, armed robberies in my soon to be neighborhood. It's going to be like I still live full-time in my downtown Nola home.

If you want to stay in the garden district to run I'd recommend staying around streets like City Park, Carol, and Georges ln. The further North and East you go from there the sketchier it gets.

I may start running there and carrying a pocket fisherman. I know that posted lake is chock full of the perches.
