Background:
I have been an avid lifter and gym rat most of my life, I am almost 60 but was benching way over 300 and curling 150 when I was in 50s. I had to stop when Covid hit due to the susceptibly of my wife to dying. I haven’t really been the same since, being strong was always important to me, and the gym was shrink.
On cardio, i circuit trained and walked. I hate it.
In 22 shite hit the fan, they found a stomach tumor, i broke my leg etc. After chemo I had it removed at MD Anderson in March. I was doing great walking 5 miles a day not yet back to lifting but ok. Then I was hospitalized with a rare strep C blood infection and nearly died and had to have emergency lamenectmy to drain the huge abscess on my spine. I just got off my iv antibiotics and I am starting to feel better, but I have no endurance.
Any ideas on how to get back into it appreciated.

Congrats on just being here buddy. I can’t speak on much of what you’re going through, but I would suggest getting back slower. Your body is way tired from fighting all that off. If you think you are going slow enough, go slower.

Yeah man, there is no magic pill. Start slow, keep track of what you’ve done, and just improve a little every day.

Have you done PT? Did they recommend a gym for you to join, or keep you to work on reaching the ACSM guidelines for activity?
Sorry to hear about the hardship you’ve endured but if you are motivated you would be a great candidate at my clinic

Praise God you are still with us!
Agree with what is being said. Start slow, set small daily goals, and try to win each day!
