Sudden pain and weakness on the right side of my right quad started on Monday. Radiates a bit. Did my squats but walking lunges were brutal. Right leg was so weak even the muscle hurt and it almost gave out a few times. Just woke up with it Monday morning. This treatable or just rest it?

Rest, Advil, and apply heat are all I’ve got for you man. This happens to me a couple times a year in between my shoulder blades and do not wish that on my worst enemy...hope you have a speedy recovery.

Laying in bed with my TENS unit cranked way up as we speak due to this. Anytime I feel a crick in my neck coming on, I get pissed. Not because of the crick, I can handle that. It just always migrates down between my shoulder blades and is crippling. shite sucks.

This is the worst. I finally accepted that I was an old piece of shite and started stretching more before the workout and don’t get them often anymore.

Sounds to me like it could be a bulging/herniated lumbar disc (I just had this operated on.) If that's what it is, there's a chance it will heal on its own over time, but might be worth seeing a neurologist to get it possibly diagnosed. Good luck! I have the utmost empathy.

If it's a disc issue, do not put heat on it. Ice instead and Aleves.

I actually think if you can find either ice or heat to work, you should use whichever one does. It's just unlikely that that will help a disc in the first place. Doc might be able to get you some prednisone to see if that does anything.

I had a ruptured disc at C1-2. Heat makes it worse. I know, been there done that. I would say go see a chiro but they get about as much love as Pit Bulls and guys getting DUI's on here.

What I'm saying is that my neuro told me it's unpredictable per person, so just go with anything that provides relief.

And yeah, I would absolutely not go to a chiro if you thought it was a disc issue.

It’s not crazy severe pain, just kind of nagging, and only on lunges. It lasts during the workout and then goes away about 3 hours later and I’m fine.

Maybe just a minor bulge? Or maybe it's not spinal and there is some obscure pinch at the actual leg site?
