Does anyone own one on this board? If so would you recommend purchasing a Peloton?

Zwift is the king of online cycling simulators. Peloton is for fat chicks.

Their marketing is absolutely phenomenal. I stop what I'm doing when their commercials come on.

A good friend of mine down the street has one. She uses the shite out if it on the daily and her husband uses it pretty often too. They said the biggest thing is it's fun.
They bought a 300 dollar spin bike and just the subscription to peloton for like a year to make sure they liked it first. Then dropped the coin on the full setup.

I've owned one since last year and love it. People laugh at you for spending the money on it, but in my opinion it is well worth it. There's a facebook peloton page where you can ask questions about it and just talk about different instructors you like. The facebook community is also what gets people to stay on the bike as you join other groups within the peloton family and they all have encouraging members who will ride at certain times together. I'm part of a group that always rides live with Robin and we just encourage each other to stay accountable for rides as well as encourage each other to keep riding in order to get stronger physically and mentally. I started out with soul cycle and then visited a peloton store in dallas where they let me try a class. I wasn't even on the bike for 5 minutes before deciding to buy one. Best investment ever. I've taken over 100 classes on the bike with various instructors and they're all pretty good. My favorite types are the tabata, hiit, live dj, and groove rides (these incorporate actions similiar to soul cycle). Also, the beyond the bike rides are classes on the subscription where you can work on your core and arms as well as try yoga among other things. I did have an issue with the bike and the company sent someone to fix it within a week. Their tech support is great and very responsive so as a company as a whole, I highly recommend them.

I've never used the app with other bikes so I can't comment on that, but when an instructor calls out a certain cadence and resistance, it will be harder to identify if you're at that same level. The app is a great introduction, but it usually ends up with app rider caving into buying the bike which is obviously what they want you to do. Try the app with instructor Robin Arzon for her intervals and arms class for an intro into her technique.
Oh and I forgot the thing that brings out your competitive nature, the leaderboard. It is the element that will make you pedal faster when you see yourself going up it or people zooming past you. I once got passed by a 50 year old woman as well as a pregnant woman. Not a good feeling to have when you're in your early thirties and thinking you're in relatively good shape.
Oh and now, there's a treadmill, peloton tread

My sister and brother in law have had one for at least a year.
they really like it and they are still avid users of it.
Both my sister and her husband are advanced recreational (if I can use such a term) road bikers in their 50s.

They are pretty legit I've had one for awhile, and I'm probably going to buy the Peloton Treadmill next year.
The thing I find most beneficial is the data-driven fitness aspect of it and the anytime availability of a data-driven workout. You really can compete against yourself and improve with each workout.
I run 2 days a week and use the Peloton bike 4-5 days a week, and each workout I am burning anywhere from 600-1,000 calories. You really can't beat that if you're trying to improve or get back into fitness.
