Pain on the outside of foot - Peroneal Tendonitis?

The outside of my foot just started hurting and based on my limited research it seems like it's probably peroneal tendonitis in the lower part of the tendon. Does anyone have any experience getting over this? I have a mountaineering trip coming up in about 3 weeks and I'm starting to freak out a little bit.

If you massage the peroneals high up in the calf, how does it feel?
Recommend using a big eraser to scrub the outside of foot, then working outside of calf all the way up.

That helped, massaged the peroneals and foam rolled my calves and was able to turn my foot out and down without feeling pain. It came back a short time later though, guess I need to keep doing that.

If the massage legit helped, I’m confident it’s more muscular than tendon (good).
Try what you did three times per day for a few days. Also try a warm epsom salt soak - I like to use an ice chest and just sit in the garage with the leg in the ice chest.

My experience with pain on the outside of the foot in the joint is from a gout attack. Take naproxen sodium. First gout attack I ever had I woke up stood up out of the bed and I thought I had a broken foot! Came out of nowhere with no warning! I battled gout for years in my knees, ankles, foot, even a uric acid kidney stone. Finally, got on allopurinol no problems since.
