One or two dumbbells for overhead tricep extension?

I’ve always used two (one in each hand) and I feel like I have more stability and range of motion that way, but I realize the conventional way is to press a single dumbbell. Which way do you prefer and why?

Come to think of it.. I’m sure I have but I can’t recall ever doing two for that exercise. So needless to say, I’m in the one handed club.

Single db. But they're generally 120 lb plus

When using dumbbell I use 1, but I like to use the press down rope overhead with both hands

Yeah. Same.
Usually start at 100s and finish with the 120s.

One helps keep my elbows closer to my ears/head and not “cheat” as easily, that’s the main reason I use one instead of two

This has been a godsend for my elbows and gives better tricep workouts

I assume you use that 2 handled bar for an overhead extension? Basically the same motion as using two dumbbells?

Yeah. Keeps the elbows in a better and more stable position than dumbbells.

One. A lot more stability and less bumps on my head.

single... helps keep better form and more stable.

Always one. It can either be a heavy 2 handed or a lighter one hand.

Two
But I do them lying on bench so it resembles skull crushers
You can also do a reverse close grip bench or Jm presses
