I’ve been having lower spine issues for over a year now. Went to a chiropractor to see what he could do to help. He told me my spine was shifted to left. I’ve gone to see him every week for 3 months now and no relief.

Stupid question, but is there other options before I go to a spine Dr?

Sounds almost like the classic “Treatment Plan Chiro Scam.” Have you addressed your hips/psoas/illiacus yet?

Honestly I’d start with your family doc while simultaneously looking up stuff to fix your hips in case that’s the source. The fact the chiro told you your spine is shifted should mean nothing to you - even if his observation was correct, it was probably just due to hip tightness.

How old are you?

I believe it does start with my hips. I’m 33.

Your spine is most likely not shifted, and anything that the chiro did to “adjust you” did not change that alignment. You may have a muscle imbalance based on your dominant vs non-dominant side. Did you play sport’s growing up? Did/ do you weightlift?

I would see a sports/ fitness minded physical therapist next and work on your form and muscle imbalances. I know chiro’s can provide exercise and bill it as PT treatment, but it’s not the same.

Now if your chiro is watching you lift, giving feedback, and not polluting your head with non-science based information, they might be on to something. But your spine is not misaligned, imaging won’t show your source of pain, and normal changes to our bodies include degenerative changes to you body inside and out

Thanks for the info. I played baseball from the age of 5 until I was 20. I have a PT that I went to when I was active in sports and I’ll go to him.
