I've had them since I was 18, ocular migraines with visual aura, and scotoma where I will go completely 100% blind in my left eye for 30-45 minutes.

I'm experiencing something new now, I've had a migraine for the biggest part of three weeks, and have had visual aura the entire time. I've been to the eye Dr, and regular Dr, and so far no one is able to figure it out, so I have had no relief.

I've tried dozens of medications with no relief. The only relief I can get is to drink 5-6 beers, or take a few shots of vodka/whiskey.

Anyone else ever had visual aura that lasted for weeks ?

Had severe cluster migraines as a kid leading to surgery when I was 7 or 8. It took a lot of trial and error, but I would have had similar issues to you had my parents not done something about. The migraines were so bad that they caused me to throw up and run fever pretty regularly, but never the visual issues you’re experiencing. My understanding of the situation is that I have a very rare eye condition and the muscles in my eye were attached wrong which was causing severe stress in the area leading to the migraines behind and right above my eyes. The surgery disconnected and reattached some of the muscles in my eyes.

The only thing you can really do is go to a doctor and you probably need the best that money can buy. No one in my hometown could diagnose me as a kid so my parents took me to Houston to figure it out.

I’m sorry you’re going through this dude. I remember how painful that was and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Sounds like we've been riding in the same boat, for quite a while. I appreciate the words of wisdom, and I will definitely mention these things to my Dr's.

My neurologist that I saw after having a few strokes in 2010 offered a very dismal prognosis, and he came from the stroke center in Houston. He said, in a nutshell, "your brain is like the motherboard to a computer, and you have so many components that have been shot, due to the strokes, that the electricity in your brain doesn't flow fluently as it should, and you're going to have headaches until the day you die."

That was pretty harsh to hear, my wife melted in tears, but I've seen several Doctors recently who are in 75% disagreeance with him. So, onward we go, looking for a solution. I have an appointment with a NEURO-OPHTHALMOLOGIST coming up soon, so I'm praying that he can offer some positive insight.

I hope you're doing well with yours, and like you said, I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it !

My mom suffered from migraines her entire life. The only thing that helped was some injection she could take, which only really took the edge off.

Then, in her 60s, she had a hysterectomy, and her migraines miraculously disappeared. Her doctor really had no explanation for it.

I know this isn't the answer to your issue. I only bring this up to show that sometimes migraines have strange triggers that we don't really understand.

I hope you find your trigger soon.

If you’re in the Lake Charles area, it would be worth going to see Dr. Eric Wolff. Dude is a big fish in a small pond in LC, but is a top-notch neurosurgeon.
