I've been tested for almost everything GI related and all came up clean. I usually get really bloated in the evenings for a few hours to go along with stomach cramps. Any tips on how to lessen/prevent it? TIA

Elimination diet?

I’m sensitive to fermented foods/drinks, broccoli, beans, onions, garlic, and too much protein in one sitting. I’ll feel awful and bloated and have an absolutely nuclear fart machine for about 4-5 hours if I eat any of those foods.

I only figured that out by paying attention to exactly what I was eating that caused it.

Sounds very familiar. Stress is a big cause as well. The aching and yes feeling like shite is no fun. Finding out what causes the flare up is the tough part as well. Getting old sucks!

Have you ever tried a vertical diet approach?

Basically, you take a lot of the variety out of your diet and stick to specific foods.

This allows your stomach bacteria to become accustomed to digesting these foods and makes your digestion more efficient, reducing inflammation, bloating and gas

My wife’s GI put her on a low FODMAP diet. It helped both of us a good bit. It’s basically a few common foods that people have trouble digesting. The main ones are onion and garlic. Here’s a link to the full list.

If you are like me, eating healthy means regular gas pain. I don't have any other GI issues, thank goodness, but my body just turns veggies and beans into methane. Beano really seems to work if used properly, but that shite gets expensive if you have to use it before a couple of meals a day.

So it’s healthy to eat what your body is obviously rejecting? Seems weird.

As I get older I’m having to give up or really moderate certain foods.
I used to love hot Buffalo wings. Now I barely ever eat them, ever.
I grew up eating lots of red beans and rice every single week. One of my favorite meals. As a younger adult I’d make enough red beans to eat for several meals. Now I eat it maybe once a month and can only handle about two meals.
Many of the craft beers or imported beers treat my stomach much worse than the usual bud light or Miller light, so 90% of the time I stick to bud.
Spaghetti sauce too. We used to eat spaghetti once or twice a month. Now it’s once or twice a year.

I’m not advocating colon resection as a cure, just relating my experience.I had irritable bowel for 20+ years.Alternated diarrhea and constipation, had serious gas issues, especially when eating beans.Anything with tomato sauce would tear me up.
At 50 colonoscopy showed numerous diverticulum .After several episodes of diverticulitis I had about a foot of my colon removed. That cured all my issues,I am regular as a clock now, rarely have diarrhea or constipation.Eat anything I want without discomfort and have minimal gas problems.Has been a great relief to my wif :lol
I’m not sure my experience is typical,I’ve never discussed it with anyone.

So basically, no vegetables, no fruits, no grains......no carbs.

That list was extensive. Should have just listed what you CAN eat. Little to nothing apparently.

Did you scroll down to the green section with the low fodmap foods? The only common fruit to avoid are apples. Bananas, most berries, grapes and oranges are good. For vegetables you can have carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, green beans, squash and zucchini. Rice is also good. It may not work for everyone but just a place to start if you have problems with digesting certain foods.
