I would give cardio a real shot. It will always be about diet though, and for some reason running/cardio really helps me control my eating much more than lifting does.

I weigh myself every morning after I pee.
I write the weight and date with a dry erase marker on the mirror. Seeing the number go down even 0.5 lbs. motivates me until I hit my stride.
