41 years old. Ive been xfitting for appx 4 years, appx 3x/week, running from home to gym and back for all workouts for appx one year (appx 0.45 miles ea way).

I developed heal pain in my left foot appx 3 months ago and it wont go away. at first i thought it was tight calf muscles so i started rolling out 2-3x/week. still wont go away. its a sharp pain right on the back of the heel, feels like where the achilles attaches. i just bought some Altra shoes to try a different slant and see if that helps

I researched a condition called "Severs Disease" which is basically heal pain in youths. sounds like what i have but dont think its caused by growth. i think the additional running ive been doing to the gym and back is the culprit, but i would suspect the pain would've subsided by now. So im growing more concerned daily

appreciate any thoughts. i love this board and read yall daily

What is xfitting?

Is there any chance it's a skin problem? Sometimes my heels get dry and cracked and hurt like hell.

ETA: Nevermind on the xfitting part. I thought you were talking about a kind of running.

I would suggest that you have been overtraining. Could be bone bruise which could take a while to heal.

I played basketball in high school and 'over-trained' during the months leading up to my Sr. year season. It resulted in a heel bruise that took a few months to fully heal. It wasn't a 'sharp' pain though, probably not related to your issue.

I'm in my 40s now and have had Achilles soreness off and on for the past 5 years. It's gotten much better and I manage it by using a 'Foot Rocker' (about $15) and also to make sure that I devote a good 15-20 minutes warm up if ever doing something intense like HIIT or basketball. I'm wondering if the run from home to the gym may need more warm up time. Maybe just walk + a dynamic warm up to the gym and then run home after.

*If it's a sharp pain that is fairly painful and/or is getting worse, I suggest getting it checked out. My above thoughts are just anecdotal.
