If that's so important then why are other equally restrictive diets ranked higher

I'd argue the vegan diet is about as restrictive as you can possibly get

I wouldn't argue there's some subjectivity in the rankings, but they did drop veganism to #20 and note that was because of how restrictive it is.

So, I get your point about valuation, but they did account for it a bit. They put vegetarianism ahead of veganism largely because of fewer restrictions.

I'm not going to go to bat for them being perfect rankings, but they aren't devoid of consistency. I do think that the longer a diet has been around, the more general acceptance it gains. That's a very fair rebuttal to people in the medical community slow to embrace things like keto.

I just don't think you can say a diet isn't good because it's difficult to follow

If you aren't compliant with whatever it is your doing you aren't really doing it. Saying I'm on the keto diet and proceeding to eat sugar cookies isn't proof that keto diet sucks. It's proof that I can't commit to a diet.

I feel a bit differently. OleWar's Snake Diet urine drinking is a great example. I don't care how good it is, I'm not drinking my pee.

I agree it may not mean a diet isn't valid, but it would absolutely reflect on whether I'd recommend the diet as effective. If it works, but very few people can stick to it, I wouldn't recommend it to most people.

If I did attempt to drink my urine I would want it iced, in a clear glass and garnished with a mint leaf and a lime wedge. Probably want a straw too.

Well yeah, I can't imagine anyone wanting to follow that

I'm not a very disciplined person and I didn't find paleo to be that difficult. Just takes some preparation up front.

Sure. I don't think I could stick to being vegan very long
