Hand/skin pain during pulling exercises

I’m not sure what’s going on but the skin on my hands is pinching and seeming to callous like crazy all over my hands. It’s ruining sets and is getting worse.
I just did two pull-ups to warm up a bit and couldn’t get more because it hurt so bad.
Any tips on this? I’m assuming chalk will help but wanted to make sure I research the right answer before losing any time in the gym.

You’re probably gripping way harder than needed. Let them heal a bit then tryna more relaxed grip. If that doesn’t work then try gloves

You’re probably right. I’ve actually been gripping harder the past few months due to golfer’s elbow pain (not from actual golf). The harder grip has completely erased that pain.

Fingertip grip.
Don't cradle the bar in your palm. Cradle the bar/handle in the curve of your fingers and let 'er rip. It's going to feel weird at first, but just trust it. Grip strength is in your fingers not your hand.
Also, unless the movement requires a bit of balance like a dumbbell row, I don't wrap my thumb. Helps to influence holding the bar/handle in a more comfortable grip.

not sure how thick your pads are on your hands but you may want to file them down with an emery board. If it continues then you could buy some pull up straps/pads to protect your hands. Filing always works for me though.

This really would make a great edit thread on the OT.
