If you were a strong equipped powerlifter, would you still have the strength base needed for Strongman as you would if you were a raw lifter?

Let’s say you had huge numbers as an equipped lifted (perhaps even a 1000 pound bench), but you did very little raw training (let’s assume you never went heavier than 405 on bench in this example).

I hope this question makes some sense, I will clear up and clarify on anything as needed

If you are a strong powerlifter, you will do fine with strongman. Strongman is not as scary as it looks. You also won’t be moving that kind of weight. I find strongman to not be as taxing as powerlifting.

You still have to have an extremely good base to do equipped.

I would say the hurdle would be endurance.

Gene Rychlak
Ryan Kennelly
Scott Mendelson
Tiny Meeker

All have 1000 pound or more equipped bench presses

WHat would you say makes powerlifting most taxing overall?

I just find if wears me down faster than strongman. Can’t really give you a solid answer why.

I do think you need to have good conditioning for strongman. A lot of the events are for a duration and endurance. Like farmer carry, yoke walks, car deadlift, etc.
