Took my son to a football specific trainer. I don’t understand the inbody. What’s a good SSM number? Is that the number to watch? He did say my son was a D curve. Something with weight, smm, and body fat mass

yea not sure what the D curve means

but as an athlete most will want to be no more than 15% body fat unless you are a pure lineman and even then, no more than 20% just because your strength to weight ration is not going to be that good

so if you SMM is around 50% of bodyweight, that is a great goal.

but yes SMM is the one you want to watch. essentially you want weight going up, measurement at the naval staying the same or going down.

Thanks. He’s 207lbs, 90 smm, 50 body fat mass and 24 body fat percentage. He is a pure lineman. He will probably lean out some when he starts this program.

focus a ton on 10 yard dash, SSB box squats from a 12" box and lots of dumbell vertical jumps

you want to get to 1.75 x BW @0.6 m/s to max acceleration.

the next phase would be to focus on uni lateral strength, mainly reverse lunge.

I asked him. Means nothing. It's just a description he uses so parents can visualize. Most have no idea what they're looking at (me included). There's C, D, and I. If Weight and Body Fat Mass were higher than SMM, the bar would have a C shape. Weight and BFM less than SMM, the bar looks like a D. All equal, looks like an I.

Weight -------------
SMM -----------------
BFM --------------

A D curve.

I’m going to check my info at GCF this week.

Recent surgery led to a 30lb weight loss. Can’t get back into the gym until 12/1 and I have to take it slow when I do.

It’ll probably be 10-11% at 173 or so.

I added some weight back in my recovery.

Latest InBody at GCF had me @13.7% at 188lbs.

I hit 8.6% for two months in a row, weighing 179-180. Holy shite….great numbers on body fat %, but I can’t really be that low. Looks good on the printout though!

Bought a WYZE smart scale model X, and it estimates me at 18.5 %, which I know is WAY off (too high).

Trying to get a DEXA scan in the next month or so to get the real numbers.
