Just curious if anyone here is on a beta blocker and lifting/exercising? Any changes you had to make to accommodate being on the BB? Suggestions?

Monitor yourself. Beta blockers will artificially keep your HR low. When exercising your body needs energy/nutrients/oxygen, which your blood carries. If your HR is kept low, then your transport system (circulatory) will be moving slow. Just monitor yourself, learn about ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) scales. If you're doing cardio look at the Zone 2 thread, especially about being able to hold a conversation while doing cardio.

Yeah atenolol definitely lowered my max heart rate potential

And more importantly gave me erectile issues… tried to stick it out and had to switch to lisinipril instead . No issues now

Some people experience muscle weakness or muscle fatigue. I had to drop from 85 lb dumbell to 75 lb dumbell presses and am ramping back up. I’m 71 and taking heart meds suck. But, happy to be live and mobile.

I’m on nadolol and noticed my heart rate stays in the 130s- 140s during cardio with the occasional peak to 150. When I hit 150 I need to slow down. Just listen to your body and monitor your breathing and you should be good. I also have a pacemaker so that might have something to do with it as well.

Beta-blockers have a short half-life of about three to six hours, conservatively speaking. So, maybe schedule your physical activities around that, if you're able.
Check with your medical practitioner first, however.

I’m on an extended release so it goes a bit longer than that (on succinate). That said, I do take it at night before I go to bed to reduce some of the dizziness side effect when I initially take it.

I might try some later afternoon stuff to see if I can tell a difference.
