Brazos, amigo, you're getting up to weights where some people wish they could squat.

Doing this bodybuilding split is going to end up with my bench being close to my squat. I’ll take it though.

Cheers

An old man gave me some pointers today. Apparently, I would bench much more if I had my feet on the floor. I said, “Thanks, that’s true, but I’m doing feet up bench. A bench variation”. I almost said, thanks but I know more than you, but he is a friendly guy.

Doing a Heavy-Light-Medium program. Today was heavy squat, overhead press, and light pull is power cleans, which I suck at.

Squats: 335 x 5, 300 x 4 x 5
OHP: 163 x 3, 147 x 4 x 5
Cleans: 135 x 3, 140 x 3, 145 x 3, a few attempts at 150 x 3 that didn't go too well .. I'll keep trying to improve it

35 pounds ahead of me ... congrats!

This woman I used to work with has a husband who I doubt has picked up a weight in 20 years. At one point, the woman told me her husband said he could bench 280. It's total BS but I made it sort of a mini-goal to beat his made-up number and get to about 285 one day.

It took me a bit to get here. I think last Fall I was sitting at 245 as a 1 rm. You’ll be there before you know it, then of course you’ll want to keep going.

Right. Yeah, I hit 250 (my current PR) a while back and then hurt my arm and I'm working on getting back there and then beyond. It does take work. Congrats again on the PR and hope you can keep going.

Hope you are healing.

I will say what worked for me, and it’s nothing groundbreaking or the only way, was doing heavy singles a lot. I usually warm up with 135, 185 and 225, then just do singles at like 80, 85, 90 and 95% of my 1rm depending on how the weight is moving. If I’m not feeling it I stop at 85 or 90%. Then if I want to focus on pump I can drop the weight, even to 135, and burnout. If not, I move on to my next lift.

Cheers mate.

This brought a big ol smile to my face, I'm a nurse so I work almost exclusively with women most of the time, and I always have to laugh at the ones that love their husbands so much and think the world of their husbands that they can't help but brag on them. It's nice to hear actually, but I still have to laugh a little when it's obvious that they are exaggerating quite a bit. It just shows how much they love their husbands. You just have to smile and say, "Wow! That is amazing, he sounds like a real cool dude."
