chiari malformation surgery. Need surgeon rec.

The wife (no pics) needs to have this brain surgery and looking for a great neurosurgeon that specializes in chiari. Any advice would be appreciated.

id say any neurosurgeon that specializes in this or any neurosurgeon for that matter are among the best of the best in regards to surgeons in general

I know of someone who had great success with Dr. Garni Barhoudarian in Santa Monica, Ca. for the removal of a brain tumor on her brain stem.

(Bark-a-dare-ian) is the pronounciation I believe.

Maybe you could call and see if the surgery you need could be done by him.

Per his website:
Dr. Barhoudarian's clinical interests include pituitary disorders, benign and malignant brain tumor surgery, neuroendoscopy and minimally invasive brain surgery, trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, and mild to severe head injury/concussion.

If you are Atlanta, I'd look at Duke or Emory. I would go with a large facility for that surgery.

I agree, especially with Duke. I'd also look into Mayo Clinic. They have a team especially for this condition.
