If I'm doing something like the Cyclical Keto Diet and only refueling my body with carbs on the weekends before big lifts, can I successfully bulk while simultaneously shedding fat? I've always known bulking/cutting to be mutually exclusive.

You could if you're intaking a bunch of fat to meet your caloric needs.

But the increased size is fat and not necessarily muscle? I am having a hard time
figuring this out. Spent some time on r/ketogains and am trying to figure out if this is a truly viable and maybe favorable approach to bulking. Any more thoughts or opinions on this?

What's the reasoning you want to do keto for bulking?

You absolutely can bulk in keto but I wouldn't. A true keto is heavy on fat and low on carb AND protein. You could do a high fat, high protein, low carb though. Your energy will be sustainable but won't peak as high without carbs.

You can using the ketogains approach, but like what was asked above, why? What are you trying to achieve? Are you trying to achieve the leanest gains possible? If so ketogains style is not the best way imo.

Imo the leangains style to bulking is the best way. So super high Lottie every day, super high carbs/super low fat in letting days. Super low carbs/high fat on rest days.

Essentially you are carb cycling along with cycling your caloric intake while lifting heavy as hell in a progressive manner.
