Beast For A Day (Trail Running)

Hey guys/girls, anyone have experience running Beast for a Day trail race in St. Francisvile. I am signed up for the 6-hour run and just looking for some tips.
I ran 3 laps this past weekend and really enjoyed. It was as technical a course as I've ever been on. Ran each lap with an 8oz water bottle then drank more water after each lap(Cool temps the entire run, May 5th will be warmer). Also had 1 GU and 1 Honey Stinger and 1 Banana.
I was told they make us run in the creek (pictures from last year show the same) and I should use plastic bags around my shoes to keep dry. I have never heard of doing this or seen a product like it before.
Any race day or event advice is greatly appreciated.

Put the trash bags around your socks and put the shoes over the bag. This helps keep the water out and you aren't creating holes in the bag with them over your shoes. I'd change your socks every lap to stop blisters.

I know a bunch of guys who go tackle it. I’m waiting to see if I’ll be camping that weekend. If not I may go out there. I’ve never done it.

If you've never run the course, I highly suggest you do before race day. It is very technical course with lots of exposed roots.
What I found difficult wad never being able to get into a comfortable rhythm stride wise. With so much twisting and turning, ups and downs I never felt like I could open it up.
