Was reading up on astaxanthin as a supplement after listening to a podcast with Tony Horton. He uses that in a lot of his shakes and after doing some research, a lot athletes take it as a supplement. I bought a bottle of it a few weeks back but haven't started taking it yet after reading something about "consult your dr. before taking".

I'm 40 years old, in good health, and work out about 4 times/week with high intense interval training. I currently take GNC Mega Man supplement and a krill oil as my vitamins/supplements. Is astaxanthin to be treated like a fish oil, or is this something i should be consulting with a dr. about?

Most supplements, including multivitamins have that warning on them. I’d just do more research on it and if you really feel like you should consult your doc, then do it. You do you.

I've done a bunch. Haven't really come across anything that advises against it. Also looked up one of Tony Horton's supplements he sells and it contains 6 mg of Astaxanthin, same amount in the pills i bought.

Meh, in my 25+ years of wasting money on supplements, if it isnt prescribed by a doctor then it likely wont do jack shite.
