Are there any liver supplements that are proven to work well or you've had a doctor rec?

My job currently has me going on a lot of trips and bringing a lot of clients to dinner where they all expect a big time. The booze is basically unavoidable. Also enjoy my weekend beers with friends - not giving that up. Job won't last forever, but at least a couple more years.

My shitty lifestyle choices aside, anyone spoken to a doctor or done research regarding effective liver supplements?

There just way too much information and too many options out there. A lot of it conflicting.

Lose weight, take milk thistle. Also, there is a power dynamic to just saying no. You'd probably save the company money by drinking club soda because the client will follow suit to some degree.

Poison your liver or don't, but all you're doing is making excuses.

Milk thistle or some other bullshite isn't going to fix your liver problems from alcoholism.

So you want a healthy liver but not interested in doing the biggest thing for a healthy liver?

Not that kind of gig

These guys want to have fun and sip Blanton's until midnight-2 AM. I'm there to facilitate that fun. Sorry, not doing that sober. I do this once or twice a week on a weeknight, followed by an early flight home the next day, and it's a fricking grind.

I do this same shite for work all the time. No one is forcing you to drink, you're doing it becuase you want to. The sooner you stop lying to yourself the better.

Then don't complain if you have health problems. You reap what you sew.

I said my poor choices aside. I won't be doing this forever and understand. I'm not making excuses, I know the best thing would be stop drinking, it is what it is. For the record I am dry every night of the work week besides the 1-2 days I'm with clients. And I don't go super hard on weekends, but I do like to watch sports with my buddies and drink a few beers or drink a healthy portion of wine with the wife over dinner.

Either you've heard of some good liver supplements or you haven't and can leave the thread.

I am not complaining, I know it's my choice. I'm making good money and it is not a long term job. Geez, get off the high horse. Don't need a lecture, just asked for a suggestion.

You can leave the thread.

ETA:

Also I don't have health problems. I'm in shape and healthy otherwise. This is a preventative thing.

I think you'd be surprised, but either way shedding some pounds helps the fatty liver. Use it as an excuse to get healthy in all the other parts of life.

I am not fat and am in shape. Work out a few times a week.

This thread is basically because I am otherwise healthy and think about my health a lot.

There are no supplements that are going to reverse what drinking does to your liver.

You presented the thread as a request for help in fixing a problem brought in by boozing. Now it just seems like you wanted a "look at me I get drunk on the company's dime" type of deal. You're healthy and apparently only drink to excess occasionally with clients. As long as you're not fricking up sales or relationships by being a crazy drunk, congrats?

For drinking the way you plan to keep drinking?

No, there are not. The result is, at best, fatty liver.

If you aren't giving up your lifestyle nobody really cares, but you WILL be at risk of liver issues.

I have vendors that take me out all the time and they dont drink. They drink the fake drinks (tonic water and lime, unsweet tea, etc) to look the part.

The client needs to have a good time. Not you. I have been on both sides of the table (as vendor and as client) and I can assure you that they dont give a shite if you drink or not. Just that you make them have fun and treat them to a good time.
