Anyone every deal with an intussusception of the intestines?

Turns out that I have it and not diverticulitis.
It’s a telescoping of the intestine inside of itself and could lead to blocking foods and fluids from passing through. It could also cut off blood flow to the intestine that is affected. This could lead to a tear, infection or death of bowel tissue.
Very rare in adults and more common in children younger than 3.
In adults, it is usually the result of an underlying condition like a polyp, tumor, scar tissue or inflammation from a disease like Crohn’s.
Surgery is the main treatment for adults.
Sucks to be me

Never heard of it but it sounds painful.

This usually occurs in toddlers, very strange if true but it is very painful

Yeah. Very uncommon in adults.
It’s been more of a nuisance the majority of the time only had pain a few times.

My son had it when he was about 18 mos old. He was crying so we knew something was wrong since he had always been such a happy baby.
Took him to the Pediatrician and she immediately recognized intussiception and sent us strait to the hospital and called the pediatric surgeon. Initially, they tried to reduce it with air, but that was not working so in to surgery he went.
They took his appendix out and reduced it and it has not recurred. He is 23 now.
Good luck.

I thought I had diverticulitis.
Wish it was that and not this.

No surgery for now.
I do have an intussusception but it’s not acute and it could slide back into place. There is almost zero blockage.
It’ll be a wait and see, and revisit in 4-6 weeks if nothing changes.

Prayers sent man, I’m in the middle of a bad Crohns flare up. Dropped from 175 to 140 lbs. I’ll get it back though. Gut issues suck.

I am sorry to hear that. Have you heard of the Autoimmune protocol? There was a study done in November of 2017 where the participants achieved a 70%+ remission of symptoms without drugs following the diet. It’s basically a stricter Paleo diet that also eliminates white potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, egg plants, tree nuts, and chicken eggs. It’s tough, but it might be easier than what you are going through. Let me know if you want more information!

I appreciate the info. I looked up the food list for it, just reading the vegetable part got me cramping.
