I bought a neck harness a few weeks ago and already noticing a difference in my neck and also my traps. High reps, low weight. I'll do a set of 50-75 each of curls and flexions. The neck seems to be a body part most often neglected, but it's one that everybody sees, and it makes a difference in your appearance.

Yes. I have a disc problem, and neck training is my investment in keeping far away from surgery.

I have a harness too ($10 off Amazon). I've worked to sets of 20+ with a 50 LB kettlebell. Super slow and controlled is the big thing with neck. It's weird for me to intentionally slow down reps bc every other exercise I'm trying to accelerate them.

I do think it makes a difference in looks. It won't compensate too much, but it definitely makes for a clearer jawline and I think it makes me look slightly leaner than I usually am. That's just an added benefit to the health stuff, though.

I'm not using that much weight. More like 20. I was reading that the old school bodybuilders liked to work in the 200 rep range.

I try to do at least 2 up, 2 down. If I went a lot higher on reps, I feel like I'd be there all night on something that's primarily injury prevention.

I will also just do timed holds with the weight for 30-45 seconds. With neck stuff, static strength is a much bigger deal for me.

I did for a long time and I credit it for being able to walk today.

At the beach in 2016 the waves were crazy due to a hurricane in the gulf, I'm talking breaking over my head in knee deep water. We were boogy boarding and I got caught by a double wave, it came over the top and slammed me into the bottom in less than Waist deep water.

It drug me for about 5-8s and I have never hot that hard, not in football, fights, nothing. My forehead slammed and my neck took the brunt of it. I honestly believe I would not be walking if not for training the neck.

Also when I got rear ended while I was at a red light when guy was going 40+ and never hit the breaks. I did not get whiplash at all. It hit so hard it put his engine in his backseat due to my hitch. I wasn't even sore the next day.

Long story short, I love neck training, light weight and lots of reps.

Used to do it, neck got way too thick so I had to lay off of it and trap work for a while.

If you do go this route, just don’t let your neck get wider than your head or you end up looking pretty stupid

Yep.

I look like a bodybuilder with a pencil neck so I decided to do something about it.

3 sets of neck curls(plate on forehead) 10-15 reps, 3 sets of neck extensions(harness) 10-15 reps TWICE a week.

It really makes a huge difference in your appearance.

I realized how stupid I looked walking around like a gorilla with a pencil sticking out of my shirt collar. I had to wear collars that would hug my neck to hide the ridiculousness.
