I know this board focuses more on fitness and nutrition but I was curious.
I've been doing mindfulness meditations off and on for ability a year but in October I started using the headspace app and absolutely love it. Went through all of the basic packs and usually do at least 10 mins of the daily

Every day. My girlfriend lived in Asia for a bit and got me into aryuvedic practices and yoga. It's great for the mental game and an awesome add on to more intense physical training. I just started reading mindfulness on the go last night and am digging it so far

I usually do 10-20 minutes daily. Started with headspace a few years back, and am a huge fan. I recommend it to anyone trying to get started. I just do unguided with a timer now though.
It’s had absolutely huge benefits for me. My wife and kids can tell if I haven’t been meditating because I tend to run a little aggro when I’m not.

Me and my wife do Headspace most nights before bed.
It really has helped my wife get better sleep.

I've been using the "insight timer" app the last couple weeks. Been reading a good bit on it and maybe people who do it more often can help out
So i've been doing a guided one to help sleep for 10 minutes before bed. The program is 10 minutes. I usually start out relaxing, but before I know it I think I fall asleep. However, the second the meditation 10 minutes is up, I "wake" up. Am I really falling asleep or just kind of zoning out? Is that a bad thing for a beginner? I took it as a sign that I was getting relaxed, but it may be a sign I'm not sleeping enough overall?

Try sitting up instead of laying down and see if that helps. When I meditate I sometimes zone out into a sleepy state, but don’t usually jolt “awake” when it’s over. Just a slow transition back into reality
But it’s okay if it’s relaxing you enough to put you to sleep then it’s doing it’s job
