Anybody done an Outlast 5K?

The OUTLAST event is a unique 6-hour endurance challenge hosted by Texas Outlaw Running where participants complete a 5K trail loop every hour, on the hour. You are out if you fail to finish a lap in time, but if you finish early, you can rest until the next round.
The mileage isn't excessive for someone who's relatively fit, but I imagine warming back up to run after cooling down could be a problem.

Ive done the one mile an hour for 24 hours but not the 5k / 6 hours.
This sounds easier to me, honestly, I think that's 100% walkable.

I'll be doing the one in Shreveport in September.
I don't think it will be very difficult. My plan is to just finish all within 30 minutes and have 30 minutes to rest.

A 5K every hour for 6 hours? Someone with pretty good cardio/endurance should be able to walk 3.2 miles an hours for 6 hours.

If you just want to finish. If you want to compete you have to run. My thought on that is managing the cool down and warmup between rounds would be key. I know 30 minutes after a heavy workout it would be hard for me to put out another maximum effort.

I guess I was comparing it to a backyard ultra that Nate from Kara and Nate on YouTube ran in Australia a few weeks ago when it comes to endurance.

Yes it’s nothing compared to the “last man standing” type loop races. Most of those are 4 miles every hour, which forces you to at least run some of every loop.
A 5k every hour isn’t hard to finish, as most people can walk a sub 20 min mile, so you could theoretically walk the entire time if you didn’t care about time.

Pretty simple if you are used to trail running. Walk the first 4. A bit of jogging on the 5th to provide a few minutes recovery. Haul arse on the final loop.
An ultra runner would consider this just another Saturday long run. For a 5k/10k runner, this would likely be a fun and challenging experience.

Did the last one in Shreveport. It wasnt bad at all, still had gas in the tank when we were done.
It was just wet and cold, one section of probably 3/4 mile was a death trap muddy logging trail which was absolutely miserable, but other than that it was decent.
I wish it would have been on single track just to add a level of fun to it, it wasnt really a "trail run" by any means, but it was more inclusive I guess.
They have a night version coming up in Shreveport soon.
ETA: Like a few people said, if you just "want to finish" you can damn near walk the entire thing.

I saw a similar one advertised here, but it was mountain bikes. I think it was an 8-10 mile loop, and a staggered start time based on age groups. Seemed pretty cool, but there really wouldn't be an option like walking a 5k on a bike.
