Krav maga is boasted by some and put down by others. For fighting, it’s strictly self defense. Lots of elbows, knees and crotch shots. For sport, you‘d be better off learning something else.

It's definitely not for sports.

It's also hard to realistically train krav maga. My friend did it, and you can't spar with eye gouges and testicle rips.

For just straight training, BJJ is hard to beat. I remember the first time I tried 3 minute rounds of BJJ and by the 3rd or 4th one, I was ready to throw up on my partner.

Just have to figure out your priorities. Do you want to learn something? Do you want it cheap? Do you want it convenient? Can’t have all 3.

If you really want to learn how to defend yourself, bjj is where it’s at. I recommend JM modern jiujitsu. It’s not cheap or as convenient as picking up an on the hour aerobics class, but It is the most efficient martial arts training for your time and money. In 200 hours, you will have a legit superpower over most people, and will be able to control anyone within 50 pounds, with maybe the exception of .01% of the population, a collegiate athlete, you might not tap them, but it will be like a cat and mouse, you’ll need 300-400 hours to span that gap.

I don’t have any experience with Krav Maga, but it’s generally looked at as hokey, but there are legit trainers in the country. The biggest negative with krav are bjjs biggest Benefit, and that’s 100% live training. You can’t practice groin strikes and eye pokes, but arm bars and triangles you can.

I do want to eventually learn self defense and protect myself from bigger dudes.
But for now I want to get fit, and ornage theory has a nice social atmosphere and killer workout. Hot girls a plus. Idk abkit othwr gyms yet. Krava naga seems legit, Israel special ops use it
