I enjoy the training with my group. Have a goal of 50 marathons, one in each state. Two years ago I stopped running as much and blood sugar and A1C blew up. All that's under control, but now at 45, I am running into some re-occurring soft tissue injuries that I've never had before and I've been running since middle school.
I much prefer hitting the pavement so I'm never in the gym much, but I will incorporate that as well as the emphasis on nutrition.
I do marathons, halfs, sprint triathlons and all that without really taking the nutrition seriously. If I'm ever going to do an Ironman, which I understand Mingo does one each day as his daily warm up, and get my marathon time down from 3:48 then I'm willing to make the necessary changes. I just assume losing the extra weight with help.
bro if you enjoy it, who the frick cares what i think. I was just messing with you, its ok...we need gay people in the world too
no but seriously if you enjoy it, do it, I was just making sure you werent doing it thinking thats what health was. and yea lifting would prolly help some in performance and injury prevention and yes losing overall weight should help with the pounding too.
if you have goals, chase after them, frick what some random fatty internet poster says.

MacroFactor app
What are your opinions of MacroFactor. I'm kind of over myfitnesspal, but not sure if I want to pay for an app yet. is it truly worth it?

It's worth it to me because without it I am an un-disciplined serial snacker. The AI feature is perfect for me - just snap a pic and then verify the results to ensure accuracy. And as someone else noted, once you enter a re-occurring item it's simple to select it again.
I'm about a week in and I like it. Without it I really have zero clue where I'm at. I have to eat carbs, protein, etc. in order to fuel up for these long runs. My problem is over-eating.
I paid for the full year so you get a nice discount for that.
