If you’re not playing for money, and get to 18 and haven’t crushed a six pack then you’re doing it all wrong.

Years and years ago from my dad while playing the OLD City Park South course in New Orleans --

Never bet against an old man who has a deep tan, squinty eyes, and a 1-iron in his bag.

An oldie but goodie.

I walk off the steps on every putt over 4’ and focus on that number as I take practice strokes and get over the ball. Been a pretty good lag putter in large part because of it.

Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast

My thought as I stand over every shot. Takes all the pressure off.

The more you play the slice, the more slice you will have.

Not a swing thought but a general tip. I see golfers choose the wrong club for shots so many times it blows my mind especially on approach shots. Always take into account where you want your miss to be. For example if you have 120 to the pin and the pin is in the back with trouble long but short is a good leave. You hit your gap wedge 110-115 and your pw 120-125. So many times I will see somebody pull the pw and go long and have a guaranteed bogey instead of hitting the the gap wedge to the middle of the green and having an easy 2 putt par. Another mistake would be trying to "muscle" the gap wedge all the way to the pin. In my experience when you try to muscle something a tad longer you can have a higher chance of thinning it and being long anyway. You don't have to go at every flag. Middle of the green 2 putt and move on. Pick your spots.
