Problem is Zurich is directly follows The Masters and the RBC which is a signature event so it’s a natural rest week for the top players.

The Zurich is not this weekend

Tell that to the sponsors.

Why is the PGA Tour losing so many sponsors?

"One key reason sponsors are balking is the rising financial burden on them. According to Josh Carpenter of Sports Business Journal, companies are hesitant to commit to the PGA Tour’s escalating demands. "

Viewership numbers for the PGA are up this year, so maybe that will help keep some long-time sponsors.

The Zurich sponsorship for New Orleans runs out next year (2026). I am hoping that Zurich announces a new contract this month or I think that New Orleans could struggle to find new sponsorship.

The Raising Cane's Open does have a nice ring to it.

The concessions would be lit!

I feel like it would’ve been less likely he played in the Zurich if he lost. I think he would’ve gone into hiding for a month.

I think his victory secured Rory coming back to the Zurich to have fun and unwind after his career goal/accomplishment.

Rory not playing this week ……. Interesting. I fully expect to see him in NOLA. Hoping a few more top stars as well. Current list is crazily short for 12 days out. I suspect it will be very underwhelming sadly.

He said in Masters presser that he wanted to fly home to Ireland this week. I also think he has skipped the RBC in the past even though it’s a signature event

Deadline is tomorrow. The big names have announced, the other 65 teams will be the Jason Dufners of the world.

Only surprise for me in Cantlay Shaf. I enjoy seeing these two but 24 hours left to commit. The field is what it typically is in New Orleans. Scottie played 2 years back, Spieth and JT been gone for several years. Assuming scheduling plays a big part. They have the 80 teams set, full list will be out soon

Final field is out. No X or Cantlay.

Also appears that Zalatoris/Dunlap dropped out as well as the Hojgaard brothers

Zurich Classic field.

This is the weakest field since the Zurich Classic went to teams.

The sponsors can not be happy.

Field is pretty meh after the top 6 or 7 and a few older big names. Not a lot of young star power.

Really excited to follow Karl Villips as I sort of grew up following his YouTube channel since he was 8 or 9. Cool to see him finally on tour.

Also wish Justin Rose would get back to playing.

Bummed Sam Burns isn't playing (again).

Rory alone probably keeps this from being the weakest field but it’s probably not far off. They are incredibly fortunate that Rory/Shane won last year and pretty much had to come back. The rest of the big names are primarily Zurich golfers who are required to attend.

Like it was alluded to earlier. This event is just poorly timed on the schedule. I have a hard time seeing it become an elevated event as well.

That isn’t all of it. There are 80 teams. And several alternates.

I just copy/pasted what was on Insta. Assume any names they left off are super irrelevant.
