When something clicks

Tell us about one of those magical times that you changed something in your swing and everything seemed to click.
I’ll never forget when I was told to exaggerate my grip strength with my iron shots and made a lot better contact. Some of the most fun weeks I ever had on the course.
Only lasted maybe a month. Some other miscue or bad habit always creeps it’s way in.

Had a number of rounds where I hit 15-16 GIR. Still shoot around even. Doesn’t matter if you can’t putt.
Also always like to throw a couple dubs in.
Last two rounds shot 75 and 77 with 2 double bogies in both rounds. ??

I’m in the middle of it now. It’s all about keeping the weight in my front foot. It’s making me swing with the big muscles and then instead of sway.

I'll always remember, on the driving range at Blackwolf Run, after hitting only 1 fairway at Whistling Straights (not so subtle brag), I made one adjustment in clearing my hips by ramming my left foot into the ground to help accelerate that motion and I kid you not I hit all but 1 fairway. I couldn't walk the ball out into the fairway any better on most of those drives. Made for a very fun round.

I had almost the exact opposite experience. I was white hot on the back nine on the Straits course at Whistling and had struck the ball pretty well at Irish the day before that.
Blackwolf just ate my lunch alive. I think that's one of the most difficult courses from tee to green I've ever played in my life. As long and tough as Whistling could be, I felt like Blackwolf just had no mercy at all.

If you're not in the fairway on Blackwolf Run, you're toast. Even while hitting all but the 1st fairway, I still shot an 85. And my scoring averages back home that spring were the low to mid 70s. Insanity

One day just had a random Michael Scott quote stuck in my head and it kept playing in my head before each shot the first few holes. Was striking it the best I ever had and just figured I'd started reciting the quote before each shot for the rest of the round. Worked that day, after that.. not so much

Changing the feel from a push from the right to a pull from the left side.

Someone saw me slicing it around on the range once, told me to get my hands around my body on the back swing. I started crushing the ball with a pretty baby draw.
I went out and shot mid to upper 70s for 2-3 weeks after that (I had been upper 80s golfer prior to that).
Something else eventually got off and I started hacking it around again, but for that 2-3 week period I played the best golf and was more confident than I have ever been.
That was two years ago.

As Ive gotten older, my left knee and right elbow have started to click pretty consistently when I swing. So I got that going for me.
