1. His run in the mid teens was fueled by unsustainable putting
2. He's not as long as many of the best players (although he has improved lately)
3. Wrist injury
4. He does a lot of dumb shite. He's the anti-Scotty in course strategy
5. His approach game is nowhere near where it was when he was winning

This is pretty spot-on about Jordan Spieth. I’d also add that he hasn’t been very accurate with the driver, which I think stems from chasing distance over accuracy. His swing has always been very mechanical, and it seems tough to sustain long-term.

but at this point he just isn’t a very good golfer

I'm not a Spieth fan but this just really isn't true. He's made 10/12 cuts this year and has 3 top 10's. Now it's not what he used to be, but he is a world class golfer. All of these dudes are good, he's just not great right now.

Nicklaus is arguably the greatest player of all time. Spieth is no Nicklaus.

Scottie Averages a whopping 3 yards off the tee ahead of Spieth. You think that is really the difference?

I think golf has simply grown exponentially more competitive over the last 5-10 years.

There's just a lot more guys that are a lot more athletic and capable of winning.

Combine that with most of the top 15-20 being worth 8-9 figures and you can do the math on their level of motivation.

It's not supernatural, people lose their edge.

He seems to have somewhat of an inside-out flip move at the bottom to me which would have to lead to directional inconsistency. You see him hit a fair amount of massive blocks and overdraws which would make sense
