There was a guy, an amature i believe. From Texas maybe that was either in contention, leading or something along those lines at a US Open several years back. 5 years ago maybe not that many. What was his name? Is he active on any tour now? Somebody help me out.

i think you are thinking of beau hossler. he was from california and was a hs senior going to UT.

now he is a low level pga player. he plays in some tournaments, but unsuccessfully for the most part.

He lost in a playoff in Houston and is 42nd in the fedex cup. Wouldn't call that unsuccessful

He was 14 when he played in that US Open. It was the one Webb Simpson one with the British bird guy.

42nd in FedEx Cup and made it to the PGA Tour his first year after turning pro. He's already been in one payoff and has been in contention on the weekend in multiple tournaments.

Andy Zhang was actually the 14 year old. Think he plays for Florida now. Beau was about to head to Texas.

Top 5 and T6 theast two weeks. Now around 25 in the FedEx Cup. Leads the entire tour in birdies.

Beau leads the pga tour in birdies and rounds in the 60's this year...that ain't bad.

This was said on the broadcast this weekend at least.
