Don't understand why they don't just go back to the Tour Balata. Swing as hard as you want. Better control your spin or you will miss the golf course. Also on irons shots they will have to watch for backspin. This will separate the truly great players on the tour from the guys who should be 50-100 in the money ranks but can bomb their way to top 20. Also will make shorter hitters who are accurate and can control their shots way more competitive.

F that…one hit with new wedges and the cover has grooves cut in it. The urethane cover was the best golf ball innovation in the past 30 years

Because caddies would have to carry 4,487 golf balls.

I hated using them too, but if we are just targeting tour players I would rather see who can really play rather than just putting a limit on how far a ball can fly

Or the tour has one ball they all have to play and they have buckets of them on each tee box.

Would absolutely love watching tour players deal with a pre-1998 wound ball. It is the one change that could be made without rolling back every other piece of equipment invented since. The best thing would be tour players competing on courses that did not have to be beefed up to over 7000 yards to be challenging.

You want to use a 460cc driver with a swing speed of +120mph? You better square it up as it will have 25% spin and lose 10% of its distance.

Unfortunately I’m sure the liquid chemicals inside of a balata are a threat to our environment and climate change
