How was Bethpage? Trying to play next weekend

Try to get on the Black course, but the Red course is great as well. Both are in immaculate shape right now.

My 8 month-after-starting list would have been:

Bayou Desiard CC
Seascape Fla
LSU old course
Webb Park
BR City Park

Gotta start somewhere!

Augusta didn't crack my top 5 based on pace of play and I found the hospitality of the staff lacking.

I put it in there for wow factor. It kicked my arse so it wasn't that "fun". I'll never get to play it again and it was always on my bucket list.

Can't believe someone down voted my list.

2. Merion

You can't count Merion. You didn't even get to play the quarry holes.

I heard Bethpage Black is the hardest course in the USA. True or not?

Pine Valley is in the top 3 of every ranking I've looked at.
Oakmont is slightly behind.

I just haven't been playing long enough to have great courses on my list. I only just started bringing my clubs places last year.

1) Ko Olina
2) Deer Creek (Overland Park, KS)
3) The Palm (WDW)
4) Indian Creek (Omaha, NE)
5) Tallulah CC

That one was for fun.

What do you have against it?? They treat you well there for sure.

Re Bethpage ... just depends on which tees you play ... tips are 7300 or so and rated 76 or 77 ... red course tips are 7100 but it's a par 70 ... 7 par fours over 460 with one that's 492 ... ocean course has a very high rating ... can get windy at both ... just depends ... Augusta has no rating but I think there's a citation on wiki that says someone from the usga walked it and said it would be 77 or 78 ... Bethpage black has bluegrass that is extremely hard to hit out of even if it's only 2 inches high ...

How awesome was Winged Foot? There's a four ball tournament there every year and it's on my list

Brutal but awesome, from the first to the last. I was an asst club pro when I played it & our hosts insisted that my boss and I play from the tips.
Play it if you get the chance, lot of history.
