Which is the better of the two? I’ve played Stonebridge and it was alright but nothing great. Never played Timberlane. I’m playing with a client this weekend who isn’t great so don’t want to take him to English turn or TPC so figured I’d take him to one of the lower tier courses

I have never played Stonebridge and only played Timberlane once in the last year. The front 9 was in decent shape and it feels like an old, tight with trees, small club course. The back 9 appears to have been added later as it feels completely different (like it is an after thought) and didn't appear to be as good front 9; feels like a not great muni.

I get the feeling that Timberlane is struggling and they are now doing foot-golf out there too, which can't be good.

Pretty sure timberlane is a Robert Trent Jones design.

It is, but I still feel like the front 9 and the back 9 feel like 2 completely different courses.

I saw it was an RTJ design, so I suggested my golf league schedule an event there. I had never played it. Once the event was made public to our guys, the bitching started from guys who had. They really got pissed at me when I got invited on a kick arse deer hunt the weekend of the event and didn’t even go play it myself. I still catch crap over that 4 years later.

I played both courses over a year ago. I enjoyed Timberlane a lot more than Stonebridge. Stonebridge has sand or dirt on every single green.

Timberlane. They also have $23 deals on Golfnow or Teeoff pretty regularly. Cannot beat for that price.

I play Timberlane regularly. It’s one of the best value courses in town. I almost never pay more than $25. The front 9 is indeed a RTJ design and every hole has some character. If both 9’s were his design, I think it would be a much better perceived place. The back 9 is just a bunch of mostly dead straight holes thrown out there and placed side by side. The greens are on the slower side, but are almost always in at least decent shape for rolling true. They were in good shape a week ago.

Stonebridge on the other hand is a goat ranch. Has been in piss poor shape every time I’ve played there, although I refuse to play there now, so I haven’t been in 3-4 years.

I’ve played both over the past few weeks.. Stonebridge is in horrible condition right now, the executive nine’s greens are virtually unplayable right now.. timberlane is in decent shape, and is a pretty nice course given its location...

English Turn is now open to the public, so I’d highly recommend playing there.. was out there yesterday and the course is very nice Lakewood is incredible as well

Has anyone in the Nola area played bartholomew (sp?) recently? Never been out there but been considering trying it out

Back in the day Timberlane was the cats arse. I played it a year ago and it wasn't bad. I'm playing a scramble at Stonebridge this Saturday, tee off is at 1pm so Tumberlane or Lakewood would be your better options for Saturday.

To be fair, they’re probably the better options anyway..

Haven't played recently but was always in decent shape. Greens are rock hard always had trouble sticking them

Not a bad course considering convenience. Has one of the better ranges in the area

I typically play at timberland weekly

Protip: don’t leave anything of value in the carts while at the range... one of the dindus from around the block took off with a cart a few weeks ago

Do you play in a weekly game? I use to work out there for a long time and was a member for a year. I still play out there every now and then on the weekends.

Used to play in the Wednesday scrambles at barriere, never played in the one at timberlane... most of the guys that played out there have moved to English Turn since barriere closed.. that’s where I’m at every Wednesday
