Anyone played it before? Decent course? Playing it next Friday with some buddies.....never played it as we normally stay and play around the Gulf Shores area.

I’m glad to see the good reviews on this place because I played it about 10 years ago and vowed to never go back. It was a goat ranch at the time. Sounds like they got their shite together.

It's usually in pretty good shape. It's a fun course but wind coming off the bay can be tough at times. Last time I was there they told me they were gonna make the clubhouse into a sports bar type thing. I haven't been back since, but it sounded cool.

Guy that owns world of beer bought it and its no longer associated with the golf club. It was almost done around Thanksgiving when I played there and it looked really really nice. They build a new separate small clubhouse for the golf course closer to the first hole. As I mentioned I played there during Thanksgiving and I really enjoy the course. They have gotten it back it pretty decent shape and as others mentioned it can be tough in the wind. Worth playing.

Designed by Jerry Pate with some spectacular views! Wind plays a huge factor! I heard they spent a bunch of money on it and it’s really good now. It always was a great layout, terrible condition when the city of gulf breeze owned it, they know about as much as lsu does on how to Maintain a golf course ?????. A buddy of mine plays it regularly and wait it’s amazing now ! Enjoy !

Course report -

It was a decent tract. The fairways were in great shape and the course set up was nice. A typical Florida golf course. The greens were very soft and needed a little more grass on them (I’m sure by summer, they will be in fine shape). The best part was the tiki bar between hole 7&8 and 13&14 with tables and patrons drinking and having a good time. If we had that at my home course, I don’t know if we would finish a round.

Played a decent round for never seeing the course (84), which I’ll take. I actually got up and down out of the bunker 4 of 6 times, which is a normal bogey-double for me at home.

Will play again the next time we are down for vacation.
