I'm fine with these changes if that is what the Players want. After all, it is their Tour.

I would suggest it's only the top golfer's tour. And exactly how will the PGA decide that?

Monahan describes the PGA as a meritocracy. The idea that advancement is purely based on accomplishment.

Not so fast. Today, Monahan described the guys at the top of the PGA pecking order with no mention whatsoever of world ranking points. Well, that changes the business model. Instead, he spoke, at length, that they were rewarding golfers who attract the camera's attention. If they are popular with the fans then they bring more to the table. So guys like Rickey Fowler, who aren't even in the top 150, could, nonetheless, find themselves in all of these special events.

Brand over performance isn't a meritocracy.

Correct. Which is fine by me. But there's going to be a lot of crawfishing on LIV takes by a lot of people

but younger people are caring less and less about that type stuff and only want to see the big names in big events. It's happening in every sport

I can't say that is a good thing.

The problem is no one knows the staying power of LIV.

Not every LIV player got DJ's money. The Players that didn't are taking a big gamble.

This isn't their first horse and pony show. They are owners of pro sports all over the globe. They just put on, again, a huge heavyweight fight card in Saudi. If you are waiting for the Saudis to get tired of pro golf and sports in general, not gonna happen.

LIV is relevant because of the power brokers that back them. Without that war chest of money, they would have a very hard time competing against what the Tour is today.

Yeah no shite, are you under the impression that is exclusive to golf? Every heard of PE or venture capital?
