Thoughts on These 2 Drivers

Going to hit the Ping G430 and the Mizuno STZ230 tomorrow. Of course I hope to clearly like one better but anyone have any experience / thoughts on these 2? looking to move on from the Tour Edge (older cheaper one)

The STZ230 has great feels and is a good sleeper driver, also sounds good and is satisfying to hit.
The Ping feels dull in comparison, isn’t nearly as good looking, and doesn’t sound as good. BUT… it’s an absolute cheat stick and you almost have to try to hit an unplayable shot. Just hit the ball anywhere on the face of the club and it’s probably going to land somewhere playable. It’s ridiculous how good that driver is.
I have the Ping.

You have the 430 Max or Max 10K?

Had the 10k for a while … never really got along with it and I hate the way it looked ended up with a Titleist GT2.

Definitely the better looking of the two and I’ve hit it and it’s a very nice club but it really didn’t move the needle for me personally.

Have the 430, it’s in the closet and my 425 LST is back in the bag. The 430 is very forgiving but not as long as my 425.

Oddly enough I’ve never hit the 425s , but every one I know who has one won’t part with it until they fall apart

I had a 425 Max. I really liked it. 2 months ago I switched to the 440 LST. Just as forgiving but getting more ball speed and distance. It’s a hotter club but didn’t loose any forgiveness. The 440 Max 3 wood is awesome. Probably my favorite club in my bag right now. It’s a rocket launcher and I feel like I can’t hit a bad shot with it… for now.

The Mizuno is a decent driver.
Are you not considering the Ping 440 ?
The Qi35 is very explosive too.

I’ve hit a lot of Drivers, I’d simply compare anything you look at to the Callaway Elyte. We get the club manufactures here frequently and I’ve gotten to test just about every major manufacturers drivers (along with everything else) on my home range, so I can really get an idea of how they compare that’s not in a simulator bay.
Of the two you mentioned, I like the Ping G430 better. IMO the Pings are top 3 of all the manufacturers in performance. My 5 wood is from that line so don’t neglect looking at the fairway woods too. I’ve got clubs from 6 different major manufacturers in the bag, and none of them were because “that’s on sale”. I try a lot of stuff.
The reason I said compare it to the Elyte is that everyone is different, and for me on off center hits nothing beats the Elyte. And let’s face it, we aren’t pros, off center hits happen a lot.

I hit the 430 Max 10k, Mizuno 230, ping 440 and the QI35. To be honest I was struggling with the driver today. So I didn’t pull the trigger on any of them. My fitter was super helpful . He Wanted me to come back and try again later . Honestly I was at the range Thursday and was hitting my driver consistently. I was all over the place today. Maybe I was pressing. Just could t get comfortable . Anyway I’ll try again. Of the ones I hit I liked the 440 best .
I was also in the market for a new putter and got a great deal on gently used Ping Mundy. Felt great. Figured if my driving sucks so bad I better get a putter I’m confident in. lol.
Appreciate all the input fellas. Have a great evening.

I have a GT2 and absolutely love it

I’d go with the Ping. As much as I love Mizuno’s irons, their woods are just average. They look great, but don’t quite measure up to TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, and the like
