I think he does a pretty good job, but could use a bit more experience which he’ll get. Will be doing this for 30 years. Not a bad gig.

I wanted to stick an ice pick in my right eye after 5 min of listening to Chamblee prattle on about Bryson hitting into the waste areas. Not sure why he annoys me so much but he just doesn’t shut up.

I could do without the bad attempts a humor. He someone’s over talks, but I like how the players like him.

He’ll definitely be a guy that gets premium access which is awesome. He stumbles trying to fill dead air but he’s green. He’s articulate and knows the game and players, and likeable. Just needs the reps.

I thought he was really bad at first, but he’s really came a long way quick and is now good. My one pet peeve is how the announcers talk about every shot like it’s absolutely impossible and then when the player hits the rather routine shot close it’s some huge deal. Smylie tells it how it is.

I really like Smylie. The Friday afternoon Happy Hour thing he does with Kisner and others is really great entertainment.

He just repeats the same talking points over and over and the only reason is because he wants to say "I'm right". He's an insecure pretentious gnat.

I think Smylie is good but I heard the NLU guys say this and I think it’s spot on. NBC has too many cooks in the kitchen with tirico, brandel, faxon. Then you have bones/smylie on the course.
Too many talking heads. Just give me Tirico and one other guy and go to Smylie/bones sometimes. These commentators feel they have to fill the dead space with their thoughts and they don’t.
Give me less dead space talking and more shutting up and letting us listen in to the player/caddie convos. Obviously less commercials too and the playing through needs to die

I was watching a golf tournament on TV a year or two ago, and some of the audio went on the fritz, so that all you could hear was the golfer and caddy conversing, sound of the golf shot, etc. No talking heads. This went on for 15 minutes. It was awesome.

Best part of COVID year when events started but no spectators. I'm sure they had a guy in the truck riding the bleep button.
