Thoughts on AP3 vs i500?

Guys, I'm looking to get a new iron set and I've mostly narrowed it down to these two sets. I'd love to get some feedback as to the pros and cons.
I plan to hit the PGA store and try them both out before purchasing.
I've heard the cons of the AP3 are the feel and sound, and some dislike the head size.
I've heard the cons of the i500 are mostly with the finish getting scuffed easily and some complaints as to the sound.
To me, both sets look great and provide a good combo of distance and forgiveness. Any experience or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Background (I'm usually a 12-14 HCP and I've been playing '14 TM tour preferred irons with stiff shafts for about 3 years now.)
TIA

Which Tour preferred's have you been playing, the CBs?

Yeah, the CBs were ok for awhile. Got them at a good price when I was just starting out. But....meh.

You should check out the 919F too for a players distance iron.

Find you some PING s55's and hit those.....I haven't found anything better to hit outside of the PXG's

Just played my first round with my new AP3s Sunday and they were great. Definitely longer than my JPX 850s and more forgiving too. I hit a few shots that I thought should’ve been a terrible outcome and ended up being fine. The good strikes felt awesome of course

Taylor made P790s may be something you want to look at too. High launching forgiving iron.

I was recently fit for irons. Single digit handicapper that hits the ball about average distance (7 iron around 170-175). I hit both sets of those irons along with a few more. The i500’s were the longest. However they were the least consistent. I was hitting my 7 consistently 185, but the dispersion pattern of the ball was not good. Flight was phenomenal though. I played titelist irons for 15 years before this fitting. I loved my titelist irons. Hated the AP3’s. They felt bad. Sounded bad. Get like you’d expect a non-forged club would feel.
I personally fit best into the P790’s. They were the most consistent in flight and dispersion and added yardage to my game. I was concerned that the ball flight would be too low considering that the lofts are strong, but to this point the flight has been great.
Edit: I think that you’ll find that most of the “foam filled” newer clubs don’t sound like you’re used to having a club sound. I got over that quickly

I have AP3s and I’ve never felt more confident with my iron play than I do now.
They feel great and offer some forgiveness.

Not a fan of the AP3 because of the juiced lofts. I believe the pitching wedge is 43 degrees. I always feel better with more of a players club in my hand because I know I have to make a good swing. If you are a 12 handicap, why aren’t you looking at the AP2’s also?
