But Phil plays a Calloway ball

P.S. would love to see Phil complete the grand slam this week.

The entire point of my post was the ProV elevated Phil from a very above average player to an all time great.

Did not all the other players have access to the ProV also?

Of course they did, but it disproportionately helped players like Phil (fairly erratic), and killed guys like Justin Leornard who were incredible ball strikers, but didn't have the distance to keep up.

It's the same theory as the new drivers, the amateur that swings 95 mph isn't deriving much benefit from the hot drivers, but the pro swinging 115 mph is deriving great benefit. It, like the ball, has further bifurcating the game.

Go look at the stats from 2000 to 2006 where we see the roll out of the new ball and larger driver heads, the type of player that wins your events almost turns on its head. It's actually really interesting stuff.

You’re killing this thread with your ProV talk.

And it’s nonsense to begin with. Here’s why.

Phil has been playing golf. Every day. For 6 hours a day. For the last 45 years. He would be a great player even if he was playing with some old Top Flite rocks.

No ball makes a player elite. Only a player’s skill. It’s about the golf swing.

Much better argument than mingo, but I am not sure about that bold part.

You have to have some sort of mental disability. There's no other reasonable explanation for what you post.

He gained 25 yards of distance and become more accurate quite literally overnight. I don't know why y'all are getting so upset, I like Phil and he would have been a very good player either way (compared to his peers obviously he'd be worlds better than 99.9% of people either way, but I wasnt aware we weren't smart enough to be able to infer that).

You can look at the stats. He went from about 288 off the tee to 306 off the tee while becoming MORE accurate.

If you don't think the ball makes a world of difference I don't know what to tell you. Balatas weren't even perfectly round until like the mid 80s

The new balls helped others close the gap between the field and Tiger.

For most of the 90’s and early 2000’s, Vijay was more consistent than Phil. I think they both had 22 wins, but Vijay had 3 majors. Vijay is about 10 years older but I believe they joined the PGA tour around the same time.

Phil has never been #1 in the world...Vijay has, and during Prime Tiger years.

With that being said, Phil has had the better career and it isn’t really debatable

You're posting as if only Phil could use them

I mean, you've posted some pretty dumb shite on multiple boards, but this it the worst of all.

Phil won exactly one of his five majors with the Pro V1.

And they helped a certain style at a much higher clip than others, just as equipment has.

pro-V1 wasn't the first, and EVERYONE could use them.

Are you on disability?

The ProV1 absolutely, indisputablely changed the game of golf. If you argue otherwise you are an idiot.

How can you get through your skull that just because they are available to everyone they don't enhance skill equatably? Just look at the thread you posted all over for the MyGolfSpy 2019 rankings for balls. They said at 95 mph swing speed balls react less differently than at 110 mph. That means we can infer that a better player derives a greater advantage than the worse player. That killed short hitters like Justin Leonard, he's said as much on the record, quite candidly.

No one is saying any different.

Even if it didn't, you have no idea who it helped more. You are a dumb person.

What does this have to do with Phil?

You are seriously dumb. I suspect brain damage or IQ under 85.

You absolutely can. There's both empirical evidence as well as plenty of players and others who have talked about it.

One of the least friendly players on the PGA tour inside the locker room. His image was created by his publicist. Not saying he is not a good golfer, but after talking with several very likable PGA tour pros, I don't have a very good opinion of him.
