By asking this are you admitting that the PGAT product is still bad or are you asking what exactly LIV did that the PGAT is copying that is an addition?
It's pretty obvious that the PGAT is trying very hard to improve everything from on course production to the TV production. Mainly out of fear of losing eyes and sponsors. I go to a number of PGA events and will say they are far livelier than they were a few years ago and nowhere near ten years ago.
Put aside your absolute disdain for LIV and lets think logically here. The PGAT has done jack shite for two decades on improving TV and on course production. A disruptor shows up that is the polar opposite - pure party and golf is the side show. PGAT gets its caged rattled because a handful of its top names depart for this new lifestyle league and people start talking about it, videos show the fans having fun, etc etc. PGAT has to immediately start thinking like a 2023 company and not a 1999 company. PIF has far deeper reaching impacts than I think you care to admit and if sponsors started having their investments rattled it trickled down to the PGAT having to admit they need to spice it up, and they have. All thanks to a disrupter of the norm. You cannot continue to be this obtuse.
*I have a handful of PGAT players clients and have been in this circle since the late 90s.

quote:Its fricking golf man. You either like it or not. Do you like watching guys play golf? Yes, you like the tour. Trying to “zest it up” is just stupid. You aren’t going to gain anything you only potentially lose people that actually like golf

They haven’t changed anything, at all, on Tour in terms of the actual product of golf since liv came. You can continue to write 4 paragraphs of shite without actually saying anything

This was an Earl operation in the mid 90s. Right as Tiger was about to head out on tour, Earl approached a handful of sponsors to talk about setting up a league that would compete directly with the PGAT but for more money. Kind of like Shell's Wonderful World of Golf exhibitions but it would be for millions of dollars. A few company's caught wind and because of their multi-million dollar investments were at risk, there wasn't much fight from sponsors to add more millions as Tiger proved to be one of the best investments for them long term.
I'll say this, I am from Texas, grew up where one of Tiger's largest sponsors used to be HQ'ed, grew up around these circles. Played golf with executives regularly. I think I've posted enough to prove that I am deeply connected to the PGAT (see the Jordan Spieth Master's jacket thread).
