Keep hearing it will reopen but it seems to be set if it does it will be 9 holes. Heard 1-6 then 10, 17, 18. Rest will be houses.

Wasn't there a lot of unsold real estate already out there?

So what the latest Ive heard is that they are trying to open it back up in April/May as an 18 hole course with the Range open.

They are having a HOA vote soon where all homeowners will have a membership in some way. They are also starting to ask former members and outsiders to make a commitment to joining. So far they have 60 people sign up on top of the 190 homeowners they have out there.

Obviously they are still looking for more members, if anyone here is interested fill out the attatched form and we can get it in the hands of the right people

Some sort of out of parish membership may attract some people.

Since you seem to be in the know. I live in the parish and would be interested in a membership of sorts. Dont play that often, so It would need to be decent to get me to join.

Like I said I just was included on an email giving the detail I provided and asking if Id give a commitment. Some younger former members are spearheading the effort, If you have any other questions (membership types, potential cost, etc) email the guy I listed, or put your email down and Ill send it to him

Thanks for sharing. That's great if they can get this going. Shame to see a nice course that was really kid friendly stay closed.

Still amazes me how the city or parish doesn’t take over.

It’s the same situation with the Bluffs. It’s in a tight spot (The Island with traffic, the Bluffs with distance) and tax money would go a long way in at least maintaining a decent product. Which sucks, because they’re both great layouts that deserve much more than decent.

Bumping because I just got a job in Plaquemine. Would be nice to be able to go hit balls in the evening while traffic died down crossing the bridge back to BR

Anyone have any more updates on this?

3/16 Update from email I got yesterday morning.

quote:

I know many of you are looking for an update of The Island and where the process currently stands. As of today, there is a HOA meeting scheduled on March 23 to discuss the following:

1.) Whether or not the ICA will enter into a lease agreement with BULTRA (Current Owners Of The Island) in order to assume and take over the operation, maintenance, and general affairs of the existing golf course; and

2.) Whether or not an increase in HOA dues shall be implemented, to supplement the operation, maintenance, and general affairs of the golf course.
