If anyone has a tee time or is thinking about playing here in the near future you might want to hold off. They are giving you a discounted rate because the greens are so bad. I dont know how they lost them but some of them are mostly sand. Have a couple of the finishing holes getting close to normal but not worth it still with the discount. The bunkers/waste areas looked like they havent been touched in a while either. Landscaped areas are full of weeds. Just an all around disappointment.

I haven't been out there recently but I'd guess the rye grass is probably dying out from the overseed. The course was probably one of the best conditioned in the state all winter with the overseed and lush fairways but this is the price you pay to do that

L’auberge has sent me some free hotel stays during the week so I might take them up on it. Any good fairly priced options in the area? I don’t need anything great just something to do during the day other than the pool would be nice.

Grey Plantation and The National at Westlake are an easy drive and usually in good shape. Grey is a great track so is the National you can find the National at good prices on golfnow

Ok cool. Just realized I don’t know the rules as far as what’s open since I am in Texas.

Sorry for the hijack.

Grey is closed right now. They closed for Covid and they’ve supposedly been doing work on the course.

That’s at least what a buddy of mine who lives there told me

gray plantation just reopened on 6-11-2020. if you don't mind driving 45 minutes, you can come play Koasati Pines at Coushatta Casino. we are in great shape right now.

Kosoati is nice but if it's rained there in last week then it'll be wet. Also I find they're a little steep in price, at least the last time I played out there. As for the National, it is a fun track but it needs a little TLC to be really nice. I played after some rain and they were just letting people drive all over the course.

I like the National as well but I feel like comparing it to kosati is like apples to oranges.. just my opinion

Thanks. I am not sure what the plans are. I need to pick a Sunday/Monday. Hang out at the casino Sunday then golf Monday would be optimal.

I know they put in so much time and effort to get the course ready for the Korn Ferry Tour, with the tournament getting cancelled and the resort closing, I’m not surprised it’s in bad shape. Shouldn’t take them very long to get it back up and running. But I don’t play it unless I have a free round - over $100 is stupid

Play the course there, Contraband.

It doesn’t get a lot of love here, but every time I’ve played it, I enjoyed myself.

Yeah I am going to look into it when I get there Sunday.

I am not looking for anything great just something different than my home course.

That course will fit your needs. Also, they will shuttle you from the front door to the first tee and back. Golf now has tee times for cheap usually, but if you’ve got a free room, they’ll probably kick in a round if you ask.
