Anyone been out to marksville and played the course recently? Haven't played in 5+ years and got out there a few days ago.

Interesting to see they switched the front and back. Greens rolled pretty well but for a course with minimal water and heavily reliant on deep fairway/greenside bunkers, was disappointed to see most of them in pretty bad shape. (Muddy, sandless, grass growing in them)

That’s been the story for a while. I heard it would take hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the bunkers in shape.

It’s a shame because that was a damn good course when it was new.

It would. Word on the street around these parts is they are supposed to be getting a renovation soon to get rid of a bunch of the bunkers that can’t be kept up. We’ll see.

Personally I think the switch benefited them with better finishing holes. Those bunkers are almost unplayable though.. no telling where half the splashes will end up. That'd be huge for them if they get could get a serious overhaul of the bunkers, but obviously that'd cost them a pretty penny.

That is true, cutting a lot of the bunkers and keeping some bunkers and renovating them. But all in all it will be interesting on how it will play out after the make over. Sometimes we play the bunkers sometimes we just drop behind the bunker from the path of the ball going in. If we play the bunker we rake and fluff the sand, so at least you get that consistency of fluffy sand and that true sand shot. The problem with bunkers is they are so hard to keep up, there is so much maintenance every day to keep up with. Still a great course though, the place has been kept up awesome this season shout out to the greens keepers for putting that hard work in. The greens were just punched and sanded about two weeks ago so they should be greening up now well. My son plays the course everyday and also works there, if you have any questions he might be able to answer them for you and make you feel at home. He’s a great Lad he works the pro shop give him a shout out, Lol

Played Friday. best I have seen it since the opening. Greens are perfect. Fairways are perfect. Bunkers are ok. Rough is penal. Can't wait to go back.
