Suddenness: a problem at times for me

When I hit my worst shots, there is a “suddenness” that dominates the effort.
It is not smooth, not flowing, not rhythmic. It also happens out of nowhere.
I need to get these mistakes out of my game.
What are some thoughts I should consider?
It’s annoying.

When I’m playing my best, I only concentrate on the slow take away. I’m talking about the first 12” movement. After that, it’s turn.
No other thoughts except low and slow —> turn.

When I play my best, my mind is almost blank. Things just happen is sequence.
When I play bad, it feels forced.

What are some thoughts I should consider?
Not joking actually. That’s my “breaker”
When we rush shots, I’m as guilty as anyone about doing it, why?
Trying to hit it further, play faster, or trying to be too perfect.
Find something that occupies your mind. Whether it be an old song, a book you like, basically anything that just lets the body do its thing while the mind gets out of the way. We’ve been playing for a long time, the body knows what to do.
We’re not pros, who hit hundreds of balls a day to try and get a swing thats exactly the same every time.
Break the bad rhythms up with something when they happen.
In your case…Robin Williams. Get a good laugh and go play.

Jon Sherman in his Practical Golf email suggested humming.
I’ll give it a shot.
Thinking of a lyric instead of impact may smooth things out.

You ever setup like Moe Norman?
The club is a foot behind the ball.

I've recently come to realize that tempo is massively important.
You have to have a rhythm to every shot.
Count while you swing.
1 back swing, 2 at the top, 3 at impact.
Tempo and rhythm are paramount to playing the game well.
Pull up Tour Pros at the range before a tournament and just watch their tempo. It is the same for almost every shot. That's how they are so consistent.
