Shallowing the club

I had a lesson this past Friday and learned I have a step angle of attack on my down swing. It results in fats and thins, just overall inconsistent ball striking. I’m looking for drills at home to work on shallowing out my down swing.

To be honest, I can’t understand anything you wrote
Maybe try again...in English this time. I’m a swing junkie and would like to help you. Thx

to shallow you have to externally rotate your right arm at the shoulder, in other words you need more frontal movement of the right elbow relative to the right hand. Thinking about leading the downswing with your right elbow going toward the ball while trying to keep your hands quiet and passive will accomplish that. Conversely if the hands move first you will get steep aka "pulling on the handle"

The other poster is correct about the trail shoulder needing to be in external rotation to shallow the club. There are prerequisites to get into that position. If the club is too flat at the top of the swing it will be nearly impossible to shallow it in the downswing. If you stand up out of posture in the downswing you won’t be able to shallow properly. If your grip is too weak, leading to an open clubface, you won’t be able to shallow. Many reasons you might be steep in the downswing. Did your instructor give you any drills?

No he didn’t. After a couple swings with him helping I was hitting some of my best shots ever and felt like I had it down. Well today playing I sucked it up again! It was strange at the lesson I couldn’t hit a bad shot or my typical fat thin shot. I don’t feel like he got to see how I really play. I don’t know if I was just more relaxed or what.

Were you hitting off of a mat at the lesson? Most mats will allow you to get away with hitting it slightly fat.
Check to make sure you aren’t swaying off the ball in your backswing and that you’re maintaining posture through the downswing

I think being able to take a swing change to the course successfully after 1 lesson is expecting too much. That's just not how it works though everyone wants it to. Just keep practicing the movement and follow-up with Chris. Have to be process oriented not results oriented with golf if you want to be good

No it was off grass. Maybe it’s in my head on the course. I don’t know. Chris said I have great fundamentals and great back swing. I guess I’m expecting to much after a great lesson. This game is very frustrating and addicting.

It's gonna take more than two days ingrain any change

What helps me is really trying to force my back elbow into my side. "Keeping the elbow in the slot" It keeps me from pulling the club with my lead hand too much. I only over exaggerate it on the range to get the feeling, though.

Check out the so deep i can't see it video on YouTube. Practice those keys until you are blue in the balls. Then take 2 weeks off then quit.
