Came here to complain.

I'll never understand why Seniors get a discount on green fees. They are always the slowest and most entitled groups out there, and in general a pain in the arse to deal with. Will someone explain to me why the 64 year old retired get off my lawn baw deserves a break in price over some 28 year old trying to raise a family?

I think in the old days, seniors played mostly during the week.

Now, everyone plays all the time.

They may have to look at “high volume” senior who plays >100 rounds a year differently than a 80 year old hitting range balls and maybe playing 9 holes twice a week.

We have a “weekday golf” membership.
As I get closer to retirement, I will look into it.

I have no issue with discounting weekday rates, but they should be discounted for everyone

They don't hit the ball as high so less damage to the greens on approach shots.

Yes, if they offer senior's discounts they don't offer the rest of us.

They Supreme Court should handle this the same way they handled affirmative action

I don’t have a problem with lower rates for seniors. A lot of them are on a fixed income.

I do have a problem with courses not enforcing a strict pace of play policy.

If you’re in a cart, a foursome should finish 18 holes in under 2.5 hours.

I’ve played some terrible golf and it has never taken me more than 2.5 hours to play 18 unless I was being held up by a group of retards.

That's an interesting hill to die on.

Are you not planning on growing older ?

Being a Senior doesn't mean you automatically play slow.

My group always plays ready golf and we move quickly. I know several courses where some Seniors will empty your wallet fast.

Most courses use Senior rates to get play during the week, never on weekends.

Maybe you want to include Asians too because they won't give a 2 inch putt to each other.

And let's not get started on the ladies.....

Maybe 2:30 is extreme but certainly not over 3 hours. It takes one second to make a golf swing. Golf carts are fast. If you’re taking more than 10 minutes to play a hole, even if you’re shooting 110, you’re taking too long and holding up traffic.

I plan to grow old. I'm also planning to afford the same green fee as everyone else.

totally agree with this philosophy, just make it apply to everyone on weekdays.

It really not that much about the green fee. Cart fees are mostly all profit.

Courses need a volume of customers for the food and beverage business and to pay the support staff.

But I also believe that some courses allow some customers to get away with too much on the course and they should have a plan to deal with slow play.

Country clubs usually have a better grip on pace of play.

My hats off to you if you can play a legit course in 2.5 hours or even under 3 hours that's running.

We have played my course many times when it was wide open and 4 hours is pretty fast.

It's probably 600 yds from number 9 green to number 10 tee box.

All the courses I play are 6900-7100 yards from the tees we play.

If you lose a ball, it’s not that hard to take a drop.

If your drive only went 230 and you’ve got 290 left, no need to wait on the green to clear.

Don’t plumb bob your fourth putt.

Leave the ball retriever at home.

10 minutes/hole is plenty of time if you’re riding in a golf cart.

It absolutely isn’t and if you think it is maybe you’re playing too slow. I’m not being an a-hole. It’s the truth. If you have a cart, no way should it take you three hours to play a round unless you’re being held up by slow players.

Are you talking about a foursome or by yourself ?

Not doubting you , but that's hitting a lot of greens in regulation.

Yes

Yes

I carry a 6 hdcp and hit fewer than 50% of greens on average.

I’m not trying to argue with anyone. I just think if anyone is taking 3+ hours to play 18 holes with a cart, maybe they should think about picking up the pace a bit.

It's all good.

I have to laugh, sometimes it takes me a few seconds just to steady my rangefinder lol.
